LED screen in Antwerp: installation, permit and quote
Meir, the diamond district, city-centre facades: what Antwerp’s ordinance says about illuminated advertising, and where we install.
Antwerp has its own planning regulations, separate from Brussels. We build the screen to your size and install it on your facade, in the city and around the port.
Permit: the rule and its exception
- Advertising fixed to your facade generally needs an environmental permit (omgevingsvergunning).
- Non-illuminated advertising under 4 m² tied to your own business is exempt, as elsewhere in Flanders.
- An LED screen is illuminated: that exemption therefore never applies to it, however small.
The Meir and the diamond district
The Meir is Belgium’s most-visited shopping street — pedestrianised since 1993, linking the city hall to Central Station, lined with 18th- and 19th-century buildings and a student neighbourhood of over 40,000 people. A few streets away, the diamond district remains one of the world’s most important for rough diamonds. Two very different settings, two very different jobs for a screen.
