Choosing an LED screen supplier: the questions to ask

Eight questions that separate a serious offer from an attractive price. They apply to us as much as to anyone else.

An LED screen is not a purchase you repeat often. Most shop owners buy one, once, and find out afterwards what they should have asked. Here is the list — it applies to us as much as to any other supplier.

Questions to ask and why they matter
QuestionWhy
CE marking?Required to sell in the EU. As the importer, the responsibility sits with you.
Pitch and pixels per module? The real resolution follows from this. A calculated figure is not a verified figure.
Warranty in writing?A spoken warranty is worth nothing. Ask for duration, scope and who pays module shipping.
Lead time for a spare module? That is the number of days your screen stays incomplete.
Installation included?Mounting is often billed separately. Ask who mounts it, and what happens if the wall is unsuitable.
Help with the permit? In Belgium an illuminated screen almost always needs a permit. A supplier who ignores this leaves you alone at the commune.
Incoterm: EXW or DAP?EXW stops at the factory gate: shipping and customs are yours. DAP arrives at your door. The same price does not mean the same thing.
Which control card? That is the software you will change your content with. A known brand is still supported in five years.
Work out your dimensions firstWithout exact dimensions no supplier can give you a comparable price.
